Sony introduces faster and slimmer 14 inch VAIO CR notebooks. These are Santa Rosa based notebooks and available in five colors – sangria, cosmopolitan, dove, indigo and black (matte finish).

The key features of the notebook are – IntelÂ® CentrinoÂ® Duo processor technology, uniquely configured keyboard, 14.1-inch widescreen display, built-in digital camera and microphone, built-in 802.11n wireless LAN capabilities, pre-installed with Windows Vistaâ„¢ Home Premium operating system, CD/DVD player/burner and a set of speakers, Instant-on mode and A/V controls, LocationFreeÂ® software and S-video port – making it convenient to connect to a compatible television set and watch a DVD or play games on the big screen.

LG released its XNOTE-R500 laptop adopting ‘Santa Rosa platform’ – Intel’s latest generation of its Centrino laptop platform.

It provides more powerful 3D graphic by adopting NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS and offers comfort touch through your fingertips with ER (Elastic reaction) keyboard and separated number pad. Video talk with 1.3M smart camera, UCC video clip and video message with a built-in HDMI port in digital TV.

Dell unveils the PCs featuring Ubuntu. The featured systems include: Dimension E520 N, XPS 410 N PCs and Inspiron E1505 N a notebook.
These systems with open source OS are in a result of customer feedback at IdeaStorm according to which customers are interested in open source Linux on new machines.
Ubuntu is a community developed Linux based operating system ans is known as one of the most popular open source OS.

Dell shows 32GB flash-based notebook

Recently eweek posted an article which states that – Dell presented new 32GB solid-state, flash-based laptop at an event in the San Francisco. And this also leads the company to become the first U.S. manufacturer to offer a flash-based drive as an alternative to hard disk drives on corporate notebooks.
Not sure how effective these flash-based laptops would be as currently new compact hard drives are far better than the hard drives in the past. Now you don’t have to wait long to boot the system. One of the good reasons could be – if you are regularly dropping your notebook on the ground with chances that your hard disk will be damaged.

Previously leaked HP 20 inch gaming laptop – HP announced the Pavilion HDX Series Entertainment Notebook – â€œDragonâ€. Rumour – HP 20-inch gaming laptop

There is a rumour in the industry that soon HP is releasing its first-ever gaming notebook. It is expected the new system will be in the form of 20-inch Pavilion HDX.
So far, no details about release date and specifications are available – but it looks like the system will be for ‘Gamers’. Just for an idea, the expected system may have – Intel’s Santa Rosa-based Core 2 Duo processors at 2.4GHz speed- but may be offered with factory-unlocked Core 2 Extreme models at 2.6GHz or higher. A high-end dedicated video chipset is certain and may involve NVIDIA’s upcoming GeForce Go 8000-series GPU. Media options will be equally strong and are likely to include an HD DVD option with HDMI output as well as a webcam.
Well, have to wait – till the proper official announcement from HP.

Acer revealed its Gemstone Concept of notebooks. It looks like Acer put some extraordinary attention in changing the look and feel of its notebooks. The Acer says about its concept: “The Gemstone concept adds a new level of emotional involvement to the Acer mobile experience, dressing the Emperor in new clothes. The gradual curves and dark sub-layer of the LCD cover sparkle with subtle intensity and invite the user to explore the unrivaled prestige, natural style and empowered performance within.” — WOW – Coooool —
Few extra touches inside include – certified Dolbyâ„¢ surround sound speakers, jewel-like Acer nameplate and the neon media flow that carves a delicate energy line from the DC input all the way through to the touchpad reflects the changing face of Acerâ€™s design awareness and accentuates the sleek elegance of the Aspire range.
Acer has also revealed its TravelMate ProFile design for business notebooks.
The detailed specifications and features are not clearly know so far.

Rumour – Sony new notebooks coming in july

The notebookreview.com has published a post about upcoming lineup of Sony notebooks in this July. The linup includes: 11.1 inch VAIO TZ11, 13.3 inch VAIO SZ5, 15.4 inch VAIO FZ and 14 inch VAIO CR series.
The upcoming VAIO FZ19 (in above picture) is integerated with new Intel Santa Rosa chipset and X3100 graphics card.
